The Iva Mae Story: A Legacy of Love and Hospitality
Iva Mae, my mother, was born during the Great Depression in the small town of Fancy Farm, Kentucky. Life was simple, and resources were scarce, yet my mother always found joy in the everyday. She instilled in me the importance of family, the value of hard work, and the joy of hospitality.
My parents, Iva Mae and Don, dreamed of a better life for their six children. They worked tirelessly, and eventually, they achieved their dream – purchasing a beautiful resort on Kentucky Lake. Growing up amidst the laughter of guests, the scent of lake breezes, and the warmth of family and friends, I experienced a childhood filled with magic. It was a time of simple pleasures, creating lasting memories that I cherish to this day.
My parents instilled in me the importance of welcoming guests with open arms and ensuring they felt truly at home. They taught me the value of creating a relaxing and enjoyable experience for others, just as they had done for their own family.
Now, my husband, John, and I carry on their legacy. We have lovingly renovated this lakeside retreat, striving to create a space that reflects the warmth and hospitality that defined my mother’s life. We want our guests to experience the same sense of peace, joy, and comfort that we were fortunate enough to experience growing up.
